Continuation from last post….
Grooms men and black tie events aside, the bow tie is always a unique choice which only the confident and stylish ones make. Some may probably thinks it’s a thing for the waiters and subtle geeks, others would just say “I just don’t think am the kind of guy who can pull it off. Well……
Bow ties are statement making pieces. That neckwear will say something, so you wanna make sure its on message. Bow ties can become a conversation piece or centre of attention, when the right pattern is fitted in. It draws attention to the face, so you might as well make it worth the stare. The bow tie you choose will end up saying a lot about your character and personality, this might sound like a conservative approach but I must tell you that the bow tie ancestors have already crossed the style rubicon. Many guys like the bow tie fashion on the other hand and rocks it traditionally not often but they do not know the power of it and other stylish ways to pull it off.
You can wear one traditionally with a dinner jacket or suit for big occasions and events. But in our day-to-day life, a bow tie can casually go well with jeans and a pair of trainers or even leather shoes for a more dandier look. But one rule you must and always abide by is to always wear it with a shirt ofcourse. also paying close attention to the collar size in relation to the bow tie; the bigger the collar the bigger the bow tie. Bow ties equally looks good with v-neck cardigans, blazers and coats pairing them with jeans, khaki or plaid pants. But watch out for the suit jackets that gives you the look of a maitre…. this could be dangerous lol. It can also work alone with shirts and shorts for a more street style look. Feel free to try out any of the looks. For the sceptical ones amongst you, opt out for and understated bow tie to start with, like tone on tone or the classical black bow tie, then once you have gotten used to the accessory, do not hesitate to play around with colours and patterns.
There are still do’s and dont’s for the accessory; loud shirts needs quiet bow ties and vice versa. Pocket squares are mandatory when bow tie is with a suit or blazer. Beards needs to be fully trimmed because a bow tie seems to draw attention to the face, it alters an ensemble by making it say “am here”. Ticking from wool knitted bow ties to cotton to silk to swede materials and stripes to plaid to polka dotted to plain to floral to inscribed Paisley and other patterns, the whole goal is to make your look stylish and effortless.
